Job Purpose

The Hospitality Assistant plays a vital role in providing a welcoming and clean environment for residents and customers in our village cafe. This position requires strong communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for residents and customers, focusing on exceptional customer service and a wide variety of food and drink options.
  • Provides a high-quality café/barista service in the village restaurants.
  • Serves customers using the EPOS system.
  • Ensures day-to-day cleanliness, hygiene, and washing up after food service.
  • Safely closes down the kitchen at the end of the day, following protocols for the next day and removing waste.

  • Writing notes and messages, with a good standard of numeracy, literacy, and verbal skills.

  • Providing strong customer service skills.
  • Using mixed methods and mediums of communication.

Other Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Knowledge and experience of good food hygiene practices.
  • Knowledge of health and safety principles.
  • Good standard of general education.

Desirable:

  • Barista training.
  • Food hygiene qualification level 2.
  • Diploma (or NVQ) level 1 Catering/Food Service or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a busy café/restaurant environment.
  • Experience working with older people.
  • Experience using an EPOS system.

This role requires compliance with St Monica Trust's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy. Hours: 8 hours weekly, Saturday and Sunday. Pay: £12.00 per hour plus weekend enhancement.
