We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at St Monica Trust as a Chef (Village). As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day food and beverage provision for our village cafe, catering to bespoke events and themes, and ensuring our customers are happy and well-catered for.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day provision of food and beverage services across allocated kitchens, tailored to meet the needs and preferences of our residents and customers.
- Cook and prepare food onsite and from suppliers, providing a café-style food and barista service.
- Ensure events are well-catered for, meeting customers' needs and preferences.
- Engage with residents and customers to meet their needs and preferences, actively seeking and responding to feedback and suggestions.
- Work with the Head Chef (Village) and Catering Team Lead to implement changes and improvements.
- Manage the Front of House service for the kitchen, promoting good customer service and making improvements to the dining experience.
- Responsible for day-to-day temperature checks, quality and presentation, labelling food, allergens, waste disposal, and general catering and kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.
- Plan, stock rotate, and order using the Caternet system.
- Complete internal and external audits and activities using the Trust's systems in relation to health and safety, HACCP, and COSHH.
- Deputise for the Head Chef (Village) where required.
- Line manage a team of Hospitality Assistants, including recruitment, managing absence and performance, and associated activities on the Trust's people system.
- Diploma Level 2 in Food Production/Catering (or equivalent).
- Experience of supervising others.
- Experience and knowledge of special dietary requirements and modified diets, advising on nutrition, hydration, and dietary needs.
- Previous experience working within a budget.
- Experience working in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Experience working in a café or restaurant.
- Experience of stock ordering and management.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Good standard of IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and bespoke systems.
Hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 07.00 am to 3.00 pm.
Pay: £13.44 per hour.
