Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Literacy Programme Coordinator, working in partnership with HMPPS to deliver peer-led learning programmes at HMP Brixton and HMYOI Feltham. The successful candidate will lead the delivery and development of our reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for individuals in prison to learn to read.

About the Role

This is a full-time or part-time opportunity (21 hours/3 days at HMP Brixton and 14 hours/2 days at HMYOI Feltham). As a key member of our team, you will work closely with prison staff, volunteers, and mentors to develop and implement our literacy programme.

Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with prison staff and stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of the literacy programme.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to engage individuals in prison and improve their reading and numeracy skills.
  3. Work collaboratively with volunteers and mentors to support programme delivery.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience working in prison settings and possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. A strong understanding of literacy programme development and delivery is also essential.
