About the Role

The East Cheshire NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled Clinical Coding Specialist to join our Clinical Coding Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the coding team, developing systems and strategies to improve the overall quality of clinical coding, and assisting the Head of Clinical Coding in promoting Clinical Coding and HRGs to clinicians and health professionals.

Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for abstracting, analysing, and translating complex medical patient care records into diagnostic and procedural coding in an accurate and timely manner. They will also be involved in supervising the coding team, developing and implementing a Clinical Coding Strategy, and ensuring that clinical coding accurately reflects care delivered.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant field, a UK National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) Certificate, and experience in clinical coding. They will also have excellent analytical and organisational skills, as well as the ability to communicate complex coding rules and standards to clinicians and health professionals.
