Job Role:

The Assistant Psychologist will assist with the delivery and evaluation of effective services that meet Cygnet's Social Care objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake psychological assessment, report writing, clinical formulation and psychological interventions under the direction and supervision of the qualified Psychologist who holds clinical responsibility.
  • Contribute to the development and review of positive behavioural support schedules, risk assessments, and conduct functional analysis and specific assessments as deemed appropriate by the Psychologist.
  • Assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and / or research projects, teaching, training and project work as agreed and delegated by the Psychologist.
  • Act as a liaison point between the Psychology team and care staff in Cygnet settings.

Requirements:

  • A good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology is desirable.
  • Previous experience of working within autism and learning disability services and settings is essential, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist is desirable.
  • Strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised.
  • Good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions and risk assessment.
