About the Role

We are seeking an experienced social worker to provide social work leadership in our community mental health team. As a Senior Practitioner/AMHP, you will promote the significant contribution that mental health social work makes to the delivery of mental health care.

You will work closely with service users with serious and enduring mental illness, including dementia, to help them live as independently as possible. Your focus will be on social inclusion and recovery, working collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide social work leadership in the team, maintaining close links with colleagues in Adult Social Care.
  • Provide clinical supervision to social workers, helping them identify opportunities to develop and direct them towards relevant learning resources.
  • Manage a limited caseload of complex cases, acting as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) on our Borough-wide rota.
  • Provide guidance on the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Contribute to service development to ensure that social work values are fully represented and contribute to meetings, particularly in relation to safeguarding enquiries.
