About the Role

We are seeking an experienced social worker to provide social work leadership in our community mental health team. As a Senior Practitioner/AMHP, you will promote the significant contribution that mental health social work makes to the delivery of mental health care.

You will work closely with service users with serious and enduring mental illness, who may also have substance misuse problems, Autism, Asperger's or mild to moderate Learning Disability. Your focus will be on social inclusion and recovery, helping people to live as independently as possible.

You will enjoy taking personal responsibility to resolve issues and change what you do and how you do it to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide social work leadership in the team, maintaining close links with colleagues in Adult Social Care.
  • Provide clinical supervision to social workers, helping our social work staff identify opportunities to develop and direct staff towards relevant learning resources.
  • Manage a limited caseload of complex cases.
  • Act as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) working on our Borough-wide rota.
  • Provide guidance in relation to the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Contribute to service development to ensure that social work values are fully represented and where appropriate chair meetings, particularly in relation to safeguarding enquiries.
