About the Role

We are seeking an experienced social worker to provide social work leadership in our community mental health team. As a Senior Practitioner/AMHP, you will promote the significant contribution that mental health social work makes to the delivery of mental health care.

You will work closely with service users with serious and enduring mental illness, including dementia, to help them live as independently as possible. Your focus will be on social inclusion and recovery, using your expertise to develop and implement effective care plans.

About You

We are looking for someone who is committed to continually learning and improving their practice, valuing and respecting the contributions of others, and taking ownership of their actions. You will be a strong communicator and team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality services.

You will have a strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005, and be able to apply this knowledge in a practical setting. Your experience as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) will be invaluable in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide social work leadership in the community mental health team
  • Manage a limited caseload of complex cases
  • Act as an AMHP on our Borough-wide rota
  • Provide guidance on the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Contribute to service development to ensure social work values are fully represented
