About Us

West Sussex County Council operates a range of children's homes providing diverse services to vulnerable children, aged 7-18, including full-time care, short breaks, shared care, outreach services, day care, and access to clubs and activities. Our services aim to reduce the risk of familial breakdown and ensure children's needs are met.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Team Leader to join our Residential Children's Home in Worthing, responsible for providing a nurturing environment, ensuring statutory obligations are met, and supporting staff in their roles. The successful candidate will lead on key areas such as health and safety, training, and supervision, while motivating children and staff to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on health and safety, training, and supervision of staff
  • Ensure statutory obligations are met and children's needs are prioritized
  • Motivate children and staff to reach their full potential through positive role modeling and mentoring
  • Build positive relationships with key professionals, families, and children
  • Effectively prioritize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines

Requirements

  • Significant experience in residential childcare, with a Level 3 Diploma or equivalent
  • Developing knowledge of a childcare-related specialism
  • Experience of working within internal policies and procedures, including statutory responsibilities
  • Sound experience of key working and creating assessments and plans for individual children
