Overview of the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment as a Specialist Healthcare Professional with Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Bowel Cancer Screening Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients across multiple sites in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and be willing to participate in ongoing education and training. This role requires a strong understanding of clinical governance, health and safety regulations, and COSHH principles.

The estimated salary for this position is £32,000 - £43,041 per annum, depending on experience. This includes a non-pensionable annual allowance of £2,300. You must also consider paying for your own travel costs and other expenses.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled healthcare professional to join our team as a Specialist Healthcare Professional. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert advice and guidance to patients, carers, and colleagues on bowel cancer screening and prevention.
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases, including the BCSP database.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely presentation and transfer of patients to the MDT.
  • Supporting the provision of helpline services and resolving queries referred to the screening centre.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of clinical risk management, equality and diversity, and quality assurance frameworks. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be resourceful, flexible, and able to prioritize their workload effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A registered nurse qualification (RGN) and evidence of continuous professional development.
  • A teaching and assessing qualification.
  • A post-registration qualification in gastroenterology or colorectal care at diploma level.
  • An up-to-date professional portfolio meeting the NMC Revalidation criteria.
  • An understanding of clinical risk management, equality and diversity, and quality assurance frameworks.

You will also need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of requirements of GRS, BSG, JAG, and how these influence practice. Additionally, you should have involvement in service development and implementation of change.
