Main Purpose of Job

The Registered Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring a high-quality level of care is delivered to young people. This includes promoting their rights, providing quality care in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, and leading a team of care workers to achieve good outcomes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality care in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies.
  • Adhere to legislative guidelines on Health & Safety and ensure staff have adequate working knowledge and training.
  • Keep appropriate records and implement monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Provide management information, including statistical data as required.
  • Develop and promote new techniques and approaches to childcare provision.
  • Attend and chair meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Take on-call responsibilities and undertake sleep-in shifts as required.
  • Write concise and evaluative reports and oversee written communication.
  • Make decisions when appropriate and oversee admissions and discharges.
  • Innovate and lead a vision in line with the organisational ethos.

Human Resource Management

  • Recruit new employees, ensuring relevant checks are completed.
  • Induct, supervise, and appraise staff in line with organisational policy.
  • Oversee continuous professional development and ensure mandatory training requirements are met.
  • Maintain effective rotas and complete monthly expenses.
  • Investigate grievances, complaints, and disciplinary matters.

Management of Physical and Financial Resources

  • Monitor the service budget and financial transactions.
  • Ensure the overall maintenance of the service premises and equipment meets requirements.

External Affairs

  • Promote the organisation positively with external agencies and professionals.
  • Liaise with commissioners and referrals managers regarding admissions.
  • Attend and contribute to psychotherapy leadership and management forums.

Required Attributes

  • Enthusiasm in providing high-quality care and education.
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
  • Familiarity with the needs of vulnerable individuals.
  • Demonstrate high standards of safe working practice.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain emotional resilience.
  • Demonstrate respect for appropriate boundaries and authority.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to equal opportunities.
  • Holds a current UK driving licence or has access to appropriate transport.
  • Flexible and reliable.
