Job Title: Behaviour Specialist

Remedy Education is currently recruiting for a Behaviour Specialist to assist students with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Behaviour Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to provide individualized support and develop strategies to promote positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support students with mild ASD on a 1:1 basis
  • Assist in the development of resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies to support students with ASD
  • Provide regular feedback to teachers on student progress and needs
  • Attend to students' personal needs, including social, health, physical, first aid, and welfare matters
  • Contribute to a purposeful and supportive learning environment
  • Undertake structured learning activities and teaching programmes, adjusting activities to meet learning goals
  • Assist with supervision of students outside of lesson times, such as playtime and lunchtime duty
  • Establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students, supporting diversity and ensuring equal access to opportunities
  • Support students with their learning and development in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and subject-specific skills
  • Encourage students to interact with others and engage in activities
  • Prepare and clear the classroom, assisting with the display of students' work
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and resources, supporting students in their use
  • Undertake record keeping
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers
  • Provide general administrative support
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and learning barriers
  • Some knowledge of strategies for working with young people with challenging behaviours
  • Knowledge of social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace
  • Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting student learning
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of managing and being responsible for own workload
