About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Woking. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients on our Acorn ward, a 10-bed female PICU service accepting emergency and crisis admissions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with our Specialty Doctor and multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
  • Assess referrals and conduct mental state examinations of service users to inform diagnosis and treatment.
  • Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis, and treatment to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
  • Participate in ward rounds and clinical audits to drive quality improvement and ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management, and clinical governance to ensure a safe and supportive environment for our patients.
  • Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers' hearings, and attend hearings as required.
  • Participate in the telephone on-call rota to provide 24/7 support to our patients and team.

Requirements
  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis.
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, as well as the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity.
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients, and write clear, comprehensive medical notes.
  • Committed to continued professional development.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
