About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Retail Operations Manager to lead our Kilmarnock store, driving sales growth and maximizing profits. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and make a real impact in raising funds for Barnardo's vital services.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the store, including leading a team of colleagues, implementing promotions, maintaining high standards of presentation, and ensuring adequate stock levels. You will also provide training and development opportunities for staff and actively recruit volunteers to deliver store objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of colleagues to achieve sales targets and maximize profits
  • Implement promotions and marketing initiatives as directed by Head Office or Area Business Manager
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, both in-store and on social media
  • Ensure adequate stock levels at all times, including key lines
  • Provide training and development opportunities for paid staff
  • Actively recruit volunteers to deliver store objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Ensure adherence to financial, cash handling, and security procedures as outlined in the Barnardo's Manager's Manual and Retail procedures
Requirements
  • Experience in Charity Retail, preferably in a management role
  • Proven ability to manage high volumes of stock and maintain accurate records
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience in motivating and developing teams
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and retail software
