Compassionate Home Visitor Role

As a Companionship Volunteer, you will play a vital role in enriching the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and autism who may also have sight loss. SeeAbility has pioneered specialist support for over 220 years, empowering people to challenge what they expect from life.
Location: Our services span across the South of England, offering a unique opportunity to make a direct impact in diverse communities.
Time Commitment: With flexibility at its core, this volunteer role allows you to tailor your schedule to suit your availability.
The Befriender 'In Home' Volunteer is responsible for providing companionship, visiting individuals in their homes, and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment. This may involve sharing a cup of tea, reading books, playing board games, or simply enjoying each other's company.

- A kind and empathetic approach, fostering strong relationships with individuals and their families.
- A good sense of humour and the ability to engage in meaningful conversations.
- Punctuality and reliability, ensuring seamless support for our service users.
- Confidentiality and data protection awareness, adhering to our strict protocols.
Please note that applicants must be over 18 years old to apply for this role. Once submitted, our Volunteering Team will contact you for an informal chat and provide guidance on the next steps.
To ensure the safety of our service users, we require a DBS check and two satisfactory references prior to confirming a volunteer placement. Additionally, volunteers will undergo safeguarding training and any role-specific training as needed.
