About the Role

We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join our team at Royal Mail Property & Facilities Solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of third parties, contractors, and surveyors when escorting them into the Mail Rail tunnel network. This includes ensuring appropriate PPE, risk assessment method statements, emergency task lighting, and mail rail inductions are in place.

In addition to this, the successful candidate will be responsible for general fixing of tunnel and station lights, ensuring groundwater levels are kept to a minimum, carrying out weekly routine inspections, and maintaining communication and CCTV equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Safety of 3rd Parties, contractors & surveyors
  • Ensure appropriate PPE and Risk Assessment Method Statements are in place
  • Provide a Mail Rail Induction to all visitors
  • General fixing of tunnel & station lights
  • Ensuring ground water levels are kept to the minimal at each station
  • Carrying out weekly routine inspections and repairs as necessary
  • Maintaining communication and CCTV equipment
  • Routinely check security of Mail Rail access & egress points

About You

  • An experienced multi-skilled mechanical and electrical engineer
  • Qualified to 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671: 2008) or equivalent
  • Sound understanding of Health and Safety and the ability to undertake dynamic risk assessments as required
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • You are required to have a full UK manual driving license
