Main Duties of the Senior Mental Health Practitioner

The Senior Mental Health Practitioner will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and specialist mental health support to children and young people in Devon.

Key responsibilities include conducting thorough mental health assessments, developing tailored care plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions to address mental health concerns and promote overall well-being.

The practitioner will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and integrated care, providing consultation, advice, and training to colleagues, families, and partner agencies.

Additionally, the Senior Mental Health Practitioner will participate in service development and improvement, engaging in development opportunities and staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in child and adolescent mental health.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Professional qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body
  • Recognised qualification in evidenced-based therapeutic and mental health interventions for children/young people and their families/carers
  • Postgraduate qualification relevant to specialism

Experience

  • Substantial experience of managing complex caseloads and working with children/young people with complex mental health presentations
  • Experience of delivering model-based psychological therapy
  • Participation in user involvement in services
