About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Liaison Psychiatry service based in Exeter. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in contributing to the mental health care of people in the general hospital.

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for making specialist mental health assessments, devising interventions, and developing individual recovery plans for people with mental health needs. You will work closely with colleagues, patients, and their families to provide high-quality care and support.

We are looking for an experienced mental health professional with a professional mental health qualification (RMN, CQSW / ASW, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT). You will have a strong understanding of Local Mental Health Care Pathways, the Mental Health Act, and the Mental Health Capacity Act & DOLS requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Conduct specialist mental health assessments and devise interventions to support people with mental health needs.
  2. Develop individual recovery plans in collaboration with patients, families, and colleagues.
  3. Work closely with colleagues to provide high-quality care and support.
  4. Manage risk decision-making as part of a person's care plan.
  5. Produce reports and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  1. Extensive post-registration experience working in mental health care, ideally in both inpatient and community settings.
  2. Experience of leading on completion of biopsychosocial assessments with people with mental health needs.
  3. Experience of clinically supervising junior and unqualified staff and mentoring students.
