About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the Council's Climate Change Strategy, working closely with colleagues to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted solutions. This will involve:

  • Coordinating action plans across Council teams
  • Managing energy contracts and portfolios
  • Promoting sustainable practices and behaviours throughout the organisation

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A degree-level education in a relevant field, such as environmental science or policy
  • Proven experience in communications, innovation, and renewables implementation
  • Familiarity with climate change and environmental sustainability issues, including the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive
  • Knowledge of Local Government functions, planning processes, and energy contract procurement
  • Effective IT, communication, and report writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
