Head of Building and Structural Engineering

Our client, a leading company in façade engineering, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Building and Structural Engineering to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive the validation of project-specific proposals, plans, programmes, sequences, etc., ensuring compliance with the project brief, specifications, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Ensure the design output is accurate and checked for clarity, achievability, buildability, and availability for efficient procurement and construction of the works.
  • Develop and implement project-specific dimensional control strategies to achieve project KPIs.
  • Ensure company and project quality requirements are implemented and standards are achieved.
  • Proactively support interpretations of as-built surveys/installations and ensure checks are completed prior to follow-on activities.
  • Provide performance management of direct/indirect reports, offering technical and career development and coaching.
  • Accountability for the technical aspects of projects, driving innovations and technical developments.
  • Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net-zero carbon transition and responsibly manage associated carbon emissions during project delivery.
  • Overall responsibility for the technical/structural aspects of the project, leading the technical decision-making process.
  • Experience in developing construction methods and sequencing.
  • Expertise in managing temporary works and health, safety, and environmental aspects of the project.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with project teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet key deadlines and deliver engineering activities on complex building projects.
  • Lead structural value engineering assessments.
  • Ensure BIM is utilised to support technical management of the project.
  • Lead or contribute to project innovations and technical developments.
  • Develop proposals to reduce the carbon impact of the project.
  • Manage production of quality assurance documentation to validate project delivery and statutory compliance.
  • Create engineering vision and strategy for the project.
