Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Building and Structural Engineering to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with company and project quality requirements, and driving innovation and technical developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring that design output is accurate and checked to ensure information is clear, achievable, buildable, conforms to preferred methods, and is available to enable efficient procurement and construction of the works.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement project-specific dimensional control strategies, ensuring alignment to quality assurance standards and consistency. Proactively support the interpretation of as-built surveys/installations and ensure they are checked prior to construction of follow-on activities.
  • Performance Management: Provide performance management of direct/indirect reports, providing technical and career development and coaching.
  • Technical Innovations: Drive the management and production of quality assurance information, ensuring alignment to quality assurance standards and consistency. Accountable for the technical aspects of a project, including driving innovations and technical developments.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

Requirements:

  • Technical Expertise: Overall responsibility for the technical/structural aspects of the project. Lead the project technical decision-making process.
  • Design Output: Ability to check design output to ensure that information is clear, complete, achievable, buildable, conforms to preferred methods, and is available to enable efficient procurement and construction of the works.
  • Quality Management: Responsible for ensuring that company and project quality requirements and procedures are implemented.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with project teams and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Experience:

  • Structural Value Engineering: Experience of leading structural value engineering assessments.
  • BIM Management: Ensuring that BIM is utilised to support technical management of the project.
  • Project Innovations: Leading/input to project innovations and technical developments.
  • Carbon Reduction: Developing or inputting to the development of proposals to reduce the carbon impact of the project. Manage the production of quality assurance documentation as required to validate the project delivery and/or statutory compliance.
  • Engineering Experience: Demonstrable experience of delivering engineering roles/activities on projects of a complexity commensurate with this role.
