About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Business Intelligence Team at NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing analytical services to support the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist business intelligence services to specific work programmes, determining an approach to achieving established objectives.
  • Resolve complex queries where there is a range of possible answers and communicate these complexities to end users, including non-information specialists.
  • Identify and prioritise solutions that improve the business intelligence service of the CSU.
  • Provide analysis and interpretation of data and information to support quality and performance reporting, provider contract monitoring, comparative analysis, patient pathway and scenario modelling, strategic and operational planning, forecasting and predictive modelling.
  • Provide analytical support to service redesign/new models of care projects.
  • Use information and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare information on a regular basis to enable the CSU/ICB to report to the relevant Boards, Committees, internal meetings and other external bodies.
  • Develop and maintain reporting systems for the CSU/ICB in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure systems are in place to identify potential issues early, report them to the CSU/ICB and other responsible managers and work with them to identify and understand the cause of the issues.
  • Lead on the reporting aspects of new initiatives – this will involve interpreting guidance, proposing changes to business intelligence working practices and procedures, identifying action required and implementing agreed outcomes.
  • Provide robust and accurate analyses using data selected from the most appropriate source available and presented in a 'user friendly' manner through a variety of standard and specialised applications.
  • Liaise and discuss the specific requirements for routine reporting with relevant CSU and ICB colleagues. Offer expert advice and guidance as to the most appropriate data sources to use and methods of presentation (charts / tables / graphs / maps / etc) together with supportive interpretation of analyses.
  • Responsible for the day to day management of analysts within the BI team and management of the work of analysts supporting the ICB as part of a matrix working approach.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of producing analytical reports for presentation to senior levels within the organisation and expertise in using analytical tools to interrogate and present data.
  • In-depth and thorough specialist knowledge about the benefits that can be obtained from information systems and the use of intelligence.
  • Ability to work without supervision, providing specialist advice to the organisation and customers, working to tight and often changing timescales.
  • Evidence of having successfully delivered an analysis and insight service.
