About the Role
As a Youth Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support to 12 young people aged 16-21 who are threatened with homelessness, leaving care, or are at risk of harm. You will work closely with the team to ensure the physical, social, and emotional well-being of the young people is achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing added security, peace of mind, and companionship to young people during out-of-hours time
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of each young person, reporting any incidents or concerns to the relevant authorities
- Offering empathy and compassion to young people during challenging times
- Maintaining accurate records using a computer system
- Communicating effectively with out-of-hour services, including the On Call team
- Answering phone calls professionally, taking messages, and responding to requests and questions
- Providing a positive working role model for colleagues and young people
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong commitment to supporting young people and making a positive impact in their lives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A flexible approach and ability to work independently
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
