Job Title: BSL Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to support deaf students in a vibrant educational environment.

A reputable deaf school in Northfield, Birmingham, is committed to delivering high-quality education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students aged 4-19. As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in helping students with hearing impairments access the curriculum and develop their communication, social, and academic skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teaching and learning of deaf students, ensuring they have access to a tailored and engaging learning environment.
  • Utilize British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate effective communication with students, enhancing their understanding of lessons and instructions.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where students feel confident to express themselves and participate fully.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and external professionals to support holistic student development.
Requirements:
  • British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 qualification or above (essential).
  • Experience working with deaf or hard-of-hearing children and young people in an educational setting.
  • Passion for supporting the academic and personal development of students with additional needs.
  • Collaborative approach to working within a team dedicated to inclusive education.
