Job Title: Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatients team at One Ashford Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our Registered Nurses in delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

About the Role:
  • Assist Registered Nurses in caring for patients following surgical, investigative, or medical procedures, adhering to national guidelines, hospital policies, and best practice standards.
  • Work collaboratively with our experienced team, exercising initiative and prioritizing workloads while following departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Support our Registered Nurses in implementing an agreed plan of care with patients.
  • Help promote and maintain a caring, supportive environment focused on meeting the needs of patients, relatives, and carers, working collaboratively with other departments to achieve this.
  • Assist with the physical comfort of patients, including helping with activities of daily living.
  • Take basic observations, such as blood pressure and temperature, height, and weight, utilizing the early warning score system as per hospital policy and escalating appropriately to the trained nurse.
  • Listen and talk to patients, helping them feel supported and safe.
  • Assist with keeping the department clean and tidy, adhering to infection prevention and control policy and hospital procedures at all times.
  • Keep supplies and equipment in order, assisting in the maintenance of stock levels.
  • Maintain contemporaneous patient records, including patient pathways, and ensure relevant IT reporting systems are up-to-date and accurate, countersigned by a trained nurse.
  • Chaperone when required.
Requirements:
  • Minimum GCSE education or equivalent.
  • NVQ or equivalent, Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care preferred.
  • Care Certificate.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Ability to learn and develop, undertaking appropriate training.
  • Some healthcare experience in a hospital environment.
