Elvet Recruitment is working with a leading Civil Engineering contractor to find a Health & Safety Manager for a major project in Cumbria.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that values its staff and works on high-profile projects in the area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the company complies with OHSAS 18001 obligations, health & safety legislation, and minimum health & safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the monitoring of sites through the audit process to address any issues.
  • Develop and maintain a construction phase health & safety plan.
  • Introduce initiatives to improve health & safety standards and ensure safe working practices.
  • Participate in tender submissions and pre-qualification questionnaires.
  • Work with the supply chain to establish effective relationships and improve safety solutions.
  • Establish a schedule of weekly health & safety inspections.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Health & Safety Manager with Major Project Civils experience.
  • NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Safety.
  • Degree or equivalent in Environmental Management or Sustainability or IEMA Foundation Certificate.

The client is offering a salary up to £72,000 + car allowance + package for the right candidate.
