Social Care and Education Role

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our Student Support and Foundation Learning Department at The Manchester College. As a Pastoral Learning Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting and developing the personal, social and health education of students who require pastoral support.

This includes providing responsive support to 'at risk' indicators, developing and implementing evidence-based interventions, and collaborating with internal and external support agencies to ensure student success.

The ideal candidate will have a Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics or equivalent, along with a qualified level 3 degree in Education, Social Care, Mentoring, Youth Work, Counselling or Advice & Guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality support to learners in an educational setting, preferably FE / HE.
  • Building trust with students aged 16+ and their families to address academic and personal needs.
  • Developing and implementing personalized interventions to improve attendance and engagement.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on student progress.
