Exciting Opportunity in Planning Policy and Implementation

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planner to join our Planning Policy and Implementation Team in Torfaen County Borough Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future development of the area and delivering the Council's regeneration and growth aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the Replacement Local Development Plan, working towards the Preferred Strategy stage.
  • Provide expert advice on planning policy and implementation, ensuring alignment with the Council's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver effective planning solutions, promoting sustainable development and community engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date with current planning issues, legislation, and best practices, applying this knowledge to inform policy decisions.

Requirements:

  • Recognised degree-level qualification in Town Planning or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in planning policy, with a strong understanding of the planning system and legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Ability to travel to meet the needs of the service, with a flexible approach to working hours.
