Strategic Planner

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Policy Specialist to join our Planning Policy and Implementation Team in Torfaen County Borough Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future development of the area and delivering the Council's regeneration and growth aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of the Replacement Local Development Plan, working towards the Preferred Strategy stage.
• Provide expert advice on planning policy and legislation, ensuring compliance with current regulations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver the Council's planning objectives, promoting sustainable development and community growth.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, developers, and other external partners.

Requirements:

• Recognised degree-level qualification in Town Planning or equivalent.
• At least 2 years' experience in planning policy, with a strong understanding of current planning issues, practice, and legislation.
• Ability to travel to meet the needs of the service, with a flexible approach to working hours.
