Harrison Scott Associates is a globally renowned publishing company seeking a highly skilled Paper Manager to join their Production department.

Salary: Estimated £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience), based on the UK location and industry standards.

Job Description:

The role involves organising the efficient purchase of paper stocks for the company's complete portfolio of magazines, ensuring timely receipt of invoices, managing paper-related technical claims, and liaising with suppliers. The successful candidate will also assist the Production Director with contract price negotiations and maintain a close working relationship with key managers within the production department.

  • Organise the purchase of paper stocks for the company's magazine portfolio, minimising stockholdings while meeting quality and specification requirements.
  • Ensure timely payment approval in accordance with existing pricing contracts.
  • Manage all paper-related technical claims, processing credits when necessary.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding product developments and report internally on market activity.
  • Assist the Production Director with contract price negotiations.
  • Maintain relationships with external inventory software supplier, resolving system issues promptly.
  • Line-manage the Paper Controller, conducting regular reviews and providing holiday cover.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be numerate, and have a good grasp of English language. Experience with Excel and PowerPoint is essential, as well as knowledge of KPI processes. Some travel within the UK may be required, with occasional out-of-hours work and involvement in waste management compliance procedures.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong numerical skills and knowledge of KPI processes.
