Job Overview:

We're seeking an experienced Senior Aero Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design of components for our Aerodynamics department. This role will focus on the development of wind tunnel models, full-size cars, and R&D parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide design and development direction for wind tunnel models, ensuring adherence to standard design practices.
  • Identify opportunities for design improvement and implement changes to enhance department performance.
  • Collaborate with Lead Aerodynamics Design Engineers to report on project progress and maintain a high level of design quality.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of CAD packages and related software, as well as company-wide software.
  • Assist in identifying ways to improve department performance and maintain positive relationships with other factory departments.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's health and safety policy and maintain high standards of staff and department presentation.
  • Take ownership of projects, including design, test planning, and final release stages.
  • Mentor less experienced designers and graduate designers, and assist in the recruitment of new staff.

Requirements:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline or HND with an engineering apprenticeship.
  • Extensive experience in design, preferably in motorsport or with transferrable engineering experience.
  • Strong CAD capability with extensive use of 3D packages, preferably including UG NX.
  • Good working knowledge of standard IT packages, including Microsoft.
  • Basic project management skills and ability to take initiative and respond quickly to problems.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, particularly under deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills and appreciation of confidentiality.
  • Able to work closely with others and interested in innovation and winning design solutions.
