Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly experienced and qualified physiotherapist to fill the role of Consultant Physiotherapist. This position offers a unique opportunity for an expert in spinal pain management to provide clinical leadership, drive innovation, lead research, facilitate cross-boundary working, and direct the strategic direction of spinal services.

">About the Role

The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical leadership in the field of spinal pain, working closely with surgical and physiotherapy colleagues. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing and implementing non-surgical management strategies for spinal patients across the Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) network, ensuring seamless integration with local policies and national guidelines.
  2. Managing a significant clinical caseload to the highest professional standards, utilizing specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience to support other practitioners on a Trust-wide consultancy basis for complex cases.
  3. Providing ongoing education and training to a wide range of staff working across primary and secondary care, promoting evidence-informed practice and facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  4. Undertaking research, audit, and evaluation of clinical practices related to spinal patient management, contributing to the advancement of best practices within the organization.
  5. Offering strategic advice on future planning and development of spinal services within the wider context of service redesign across the health economy.
Person Specification
  • Qualified and HCPC registered physiotherapist with a Masters-level postgraduate qualification.
  • Significant experience working in the field of spinal pain, with evidence of research beyond Masters level, including published peer-reviewed research.
  • Possession of a PhD or equivalent, as well as a leadership qualification, is desirable.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £90,000-£110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
