Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Adventure Learning Professional to join our team at George Watson's College. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading the Adventure Learning Programme, working closely with the Adventure Learning Manager to deliver a range of adventurous activities and training to pupils and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in outdoor education, with experience in leading expeditions, managing risk, and developing programmes for pupils with additional needs. They will be able to work effectively with pupils, parents, and staff to deliver a range of activities, including skills courses, Mountain Days, and residential opportunities.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and delivering outdoor-based nurture sessions for children with additional needs, working closely with the Educational and Community Partnerships Manager to provide access to Adventure Learning opportunities for state schools in the area.

  • Develop and lead the Adventure Learning Programme, working closely with the Adventure Learning Manager.
  • Deliver a range of adventurous activities and training to pupils and staff, including skills courses, Mountain Days, and residential opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver outdoor-based nurture sessions for children with additional needs.
  • Work closely with the Educational and Community Partnerships Manager to provide access to Adventure Learning opportunities for state schools in the area.
  • Develop and deliver a coherent programme of activities in line with the aspire curriculum vision.

Requirements:

  • Experience in outdoor education, with a strong background in leading expeditions and managing risk.
  • Ability to work effectively with pupils, parents, and staff to deliver a range of activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Current water-based Scottish or National Governing Body (SGB or NGB) awards would be an advantage.
