Job Title: Field Support Engineer

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Field Support Engineer to join our team at our Cheadle site. As a Field Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, setting to work, and in-service support of Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers' ships and submarines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deploy, set to work, and provide in-service support for Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems.
  • Conduct and supervise front-line support, including fault diagnosis and testing, as well as acceptance trials both in harbour and at sea.
  • Provide on-call telephone support to customers and write site visit reports.
  • Support maintenance periods and refits, conducting pre-upkeep maintenance assessments, scheduled maintenance activities, and writing post-maintenance reports.
  • Prepare weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager or Field Services Manager, highlighting activities undertaken, upcoming activities, successes, challenges, and opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Significant experience working with electronic equipment, with some experience of electrical and hydraulic systems being advantageous.
  • Network/IT experience would also be beneficial.
  • Experience working with the Armed Forces, with an understanding of their procedures, would be advantageous.
  • Ability to follow procedures while suggesting improvements based on experience and knowledge.
  • Happy to work at heights and within confined spaces.
  • Willingness to spend time away from the factory, often responding at short notice to customer needs.
