Housing Case Manager

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and the London Borough of Wandsworth are recruiting a highly skilled Homelessness Case Manager to join their housing options service. In this dynamic role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring that review decisions are robust and compliant with legislative frameworks.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of statutory and non-statutory reviews, working across both boroughs to deliver high-quality services. Your expertise in housing legislation and analytical approach will enable you to critically evaluate information and communicate complex decisions clearly in writing.

You will collaborate with other Council services to share learning opportunities and contribute to the development of homelessness services. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the quality of services and make a real difference in the lives of those at risk of homelessness.

About the Job:
  • You will have experience of making decisions in relation to homelessness applications or applications to join the housing register.
  • You will operate in a fast-paced working environment, working to statutory deadlines and ensuring that reviews are carried out in accordance with the relevant timescales.
  • You will be responsible for managing a case load of reviews and will be required to provide detailed written decisions that are robustly defendable if challenged on appeal.
  • You will work collaboratively with other Council services to ensure that learning opportunities are shared in a meaningful and informative way.
  • You will be required to attend court, instructing and advising counsel where appropriate.

Requirements:
  • A detailed knowledge of housing legislation and an analytical approach to your work.
  • Experience of attending court, providing detailed case information, and advising counsel on short notice when necessary.
  • Experience in performance appraisal and development, ensuring your team meets its objectives.
  • Experience of collaborative working as part of a wider management team in a fast-paced, front-line housing service.
  • Experience of managing, motivating and supervising staff.

Salary: £43,250 - £52,311 per annum.
