The Commonwealth of Virginia invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology at Norfolk State University. We seek a highly qualified candidate to join our faculty and contribute to the growth and development of our students, research, and academic programs.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in psychology, including introductory psychology, research methods, and statistics.
- Develop and maintain a research program that aligns with the department's goals and priorities.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including publishing research papers, presenting at conferences, and securing external funding.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
- Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development activities.
- Ph.D. in Clinical, Social, Cognitive, Human Factors Psychology, or a related field.
- Strong teaching and research skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and community partners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to promote and support these values in the classroom and beyond.
- Experience with online teaching and learning platforms, including Blackboard.
- Record of or potential for securing external funding for research projects.
- Commitment to developing a research lab that aligns with the candidate's interests and expertise.
