Assistant Professor—Tenure Track, 9-month Faculty, Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Norfolk State University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2024. We welcome candidates from all areas of specialization within Psychology to apply; however, preference will be given to applicants who hold a doctorate in Clinical or Social Psychology.
Key Responsibilities- Teach courses primarily at the undergraduate level
- Engage in scholarly research
- Student mentorship
- Serve on various departmental committees
The Psychology Department is one of the largest departments at NSU and offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A and B.A. PSY Online) in General Psychology, a Master of Science (M.S.) in CyberPsychology-- the first program of its kind at an HBCU--and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology as part of the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology.
Minimum Qualifications- An earned doctorate (PSY.D or Ph.D.) in Clinical, Social, Cognitive, Human Factors Psychology or a related discipline
- Evidence of potential for strong teaching
- Evidence of potential for excellence in research
- A commitment to the development of a research lab that is aligned with candidate interests and expertise
- Experience with online teaching using the Blackboard learning management system
- A record of or potential for obtaining external grant support
