Job Summary:

The Department of History & Interdisciplinary Studies at Norfolk State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor to join our faculty. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished scholar to teach and conduct research in Interdisciplinary Studies, contributing to the growth and development of our students and the university community.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate courses in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus on critical thinking, globalization, and linguistics. Engage in exemplary face-to-face and online teaching. Conduct research and scholarship, and actively pursue grants. Participate in departmental, college, and university committees, and engage in meaningful service for the university community.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies, Cultural Studies, or African-American Studies is required. Demonstrated experience in teaching research methods courses, online teaching, and the use of learning management systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, personal integrity, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Considerable experience teaching in higher education, online teaching, and collegiate advising. A strong track record of research, scholarship, and grant work.
