Commercial Portfolio Manager

At Aurizon, we are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Portfolio Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of customers to deliver strong commercial outcomes.

About the Role:

The Commercial Portfolio Manager will be accountable for partnering with customers and operational teams to deliver commercial outcomes across their portfolio of customers. They will develop and leverage their strong customer relationships to optimize current revenue contracts, while also driving business growth through identifying and securing new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships across the portfolio of customers and all functions in Aurizon to optimize the flow of customer information.
  • Be the lead expert for all customer intelligence within the portfolio, including identifying and facilitating potential future business growth opportunities or decline risks, and developing long-term strategic solutions to manage these.
  • Lead and manage the design and development of customer proposals, tender responses, and business cases within the portfolio.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and contracting processes with customers, with a focus on renewing current contracts prior to expiry.
  • Develop and maintain active key account management planning for each customer in the portfolio.
  • Deliver the performance requirements of each contract within the customer portfolio through the rigorous contract performance process.
  • Develop and/or deliver timely and accurate reports, documents, and specific data as requested and/or planned.

About You:

You are a strong negotiator with experience delivering optimal commercial outcomes that create value for Aurizon and for our customers. As an energetic, well-spoken, and articulate commercial lead, you are resilient to the issues that can arise when maintaining customer contracts and are adept at having challenging conversations.

Skills, Qualifications & Capabilities:

  • Minimum 3 years' sales, commercial, and/or account management experience.
  • University qualified in Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • High-level management and leadership skills with the capacity to develop, implement, and achieve goals and targets.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and written communication skills.
  • High-level skills in the identification, specification, and delivery of customer service in a large commercial organization.
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis and business strategy, with a bias towards making data-based decisions.
  • Substantial skills in working effectively and collaboratively as a key contributor to a team.
