Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Enforcement Policy Specialist to join our team at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). As a key member of our enforcement policy team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the safe and sustainable movement of people and goods on our roads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain expertise in road traffic legislation and policy, providing advice and guidance to DVSA staff, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Analyse data and information to identify areas for policy improvement, working with stakeholders to inform decision-making and build engagement.
  • Collaborate with other areas of the business to ensure that policy developments take account of wider requirements.
  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on enforcement policy and procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong enforcement experience, with a deep understanding of road traffic legislation and policy.
  • Expert technical knowledge of vehicle construction and use, vehicle emissions, vehicle lighting regulations, and other relevant areas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to express yourself confidently and concisely at all levels.
  • Good awareness of current enforcement operating instructions, enforcement sanctions policy, and categorisation of defects.
