Job Title: Emergency Control and Contact Handler

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Control and Contact Handler to join our team at Sussex Police. As a key member of our Contact and Control Department, you will be responsible for handling emergency 999 calls, non-emergency 101 calls, online, and social media communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, providing empathetic and professional support to members of the public.
  • Use your excellent communication skills to de-escalate situations, gather information, and provide guidance to callers.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective communication and resolution of incidents.
  • Stay calm under pressure, think critically, and make sound decisions in high-stress situations.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of calls, using our systems and technology to ensure efficient and effective communication.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with our systems and technology.
