About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Control and Contact Handler to join our team at Sussex Police. As a key member of our Contact and Control Department, you will be responsible for handling emergency 999 calls, non-emergency 101 calls, online, and social media communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, providing empathetic and professional support to members of the public.
- Use critical thinking and decision-making skills to resolve complex situations and make informed decisions.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that callers receive a positive and supportive experience.
- Stay calm under pressure, managing multiple calls and situations simultaneously.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with the phonetic alphabet.
