Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide medical clinical leadership to the Medicines Optimisation team at NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care. This will involve working closely with the strategic team and networking with locality teams, including medicines optimisation leads within localities.

Main Duties:

  • Participate actively in key medicine optimization meetings and lead on key areas of work, as defined by the Chief Pharmacist/Deputy Chief Pharmacist.
  • Represent a medical view in the strategic development of medicine optimization plans, strategies, and work programmes.
  • Provide operational detail around key areas of work and support the delivery of specific actions and workstreams within the Medicines Optimisation workplan.
  • Develop networked relationships with other clinical leads, primary care leads, community pharmacy leads, and acute provider leads in relation to medicines optimisation.
  • Utilise clinical and professional expertise and knowledge of the local health system to provide insight and challenge.
  • Bring practical knowledge as a prescriber of medicines to the medicines optimization programme.
  • Scrutinise key policies and documents to ensure evidence-based and accuracy.
  • Chair meetings as requested by the Chief Pharmacist, Chief Medical Officer, or Deputy Chief Medical Officer(s).
  • Encourage learning and provide a connection to national forums on Inclusion Health.
