MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL Perform a comprehensive Key Worker role for penile cancer patients during their care pathway at the Christie Hospital and provide expert specialist advice for patients, relative and carers in relation to a cancer diagnosis and to other health care professionals. Work independently and in collaboration with the team, managing own case load of patients. Develop and maintain advanced clinical skills in assessment and knowledge of diagnosis and treatment options for penile cancer patients. To lead on the co-ordination and running of the penile cancer support group.

**This can include**: Managing a patient caseload Ordering diagnostic tests Making and receiving referrals Admitting and discharging patients for specified conditions within agreed protocols Running nurse led clinics Prescribing medicines and treatments LEADERSHIP To play an integral role in the operational and strategic development of specialist services, both in and outpatients Provide specialist, expert clinical knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients, and carers/relatives both within and outside the Trust. Undertake clinical supervision of health care professional colleagues on an individual or group basis. To actively contribute to any relevant initiatives within the care group and provide support to senior colleagues To contribute positively to the leadership of nursing within the care group acting as an effective role model To work with and support managers and clinical staff to identify areas where changes in practice are required. Ensure effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources.

Monitor health, safety and security of self and others and promote best practice in the clinical area. Participation in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines at local, network and national level. To develop policies and protocols to improve patient care Develop a network of stakeholders to support innovation and identify potential strategic partners to collaborate with To introduce measures to actively manage and reduce risk to patients. Ensure the formal reporting and recording of adverse incidents in line with Trust policy To utilise and maintain information systems to aid audit and to provide a regular analysis report To maintain records and send reports set by various bodies pertaining to the specific speciality.

To maintain contemporaneous and accurate treatment records, submitting relevant statistics, reports and activity data as requested To evaluate the service in terms of clinical effectiveness, clinical excellence, and value for money To ensure the best use of available resources is used within agreed budget to provide a cost-effective service RESEARCH & EDUCATION Identify learning needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of education to meet identified need. To initiate, lead and develop programmes of education to enhance the nursing contribution and quality of care to nurses both across the Trust, Nationally and Internationally To publish and present relevant clinical practice, audit and service developments. Participate in the education of pre
- and post
- registered health care professionals/medical staff. Ensure own compliance with regard to mandatory training, non-medical prescribing and revalidation requirements.

Receive clinical supervision as part of own professional development. To act as a clinical expert and advise on educational opportunities that will facilitate the development and support of their specialist knowledge and skills to ensure they develop their clinical practice Maintain up to date skills, knowledge and awareness of professional issues Participate in planned programmes of appraisal. To contribute to the development of nursing practice within the team and to work with and support ward and unit managers and other clinical staff to identify areas where changes to practice are required and where opportunities exist to improve treatment and support for patients. To actively participate in educational events and to attend meetings and conferences as appropriate, ensuring that you are fully conversant with current issues both within the Trust and within the specialist services locally, nationally and internationally To lead on clinical audit, and action plans developed.
