The Waitemata District Health Board seeks a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Child, Adolescent and Family Service team in Hawke’s Bay. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and delivering high-quality care to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs.

About the Role

  • Diagnose and treat a range of mental health conditions in children and adolescents, including neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, psychoses, and trauma-related presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including cultural support workers, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, and liaison with paediatricians.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that are tailored to the individual needs of each patient.
  • Engage with families and carers of patients to provide support and education.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided to patients.

Requirements

  • Hold, or be eligible for, Vocational Registration as a Child Psychiatrist with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Be able to provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Have a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement.
