About the Role

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic HR Leader to join our team as an Assistant Director Human Resources. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Human Resources function and play a key role in shaping the direction, culture, values, and goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire the Human Resources team to drive forward the People Strategy and deliver organisational objectives.
  • Develop and deliver a modern and flexible HR service to the business, including pay, reward, employee relations, casework, wellbeing, resourcing, policy, talent, and development.
  • Work in partnership with senior leaders and the HR Team to take forward cross-organisational initiatives and apply them within MCA.
  • Provide strategic support and guidance to the Executive Team and Senior Leaders in people matters, driving organisational people priorities.
  • Lead Trade Union engagement and encourage an open and trusted two-way relationship that supports good industrial relations.

Requirements

  • Chartered MCIPD member or equivalent HR qualification.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in leading a Human Resources function.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to establish relationships quickly with a wide range of internal and external senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in influencing and delivering organisational change.
