Cryogenic Engineer Industrial Placement Opportunity

We are seeking an Industrial Placement student to join our team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) as a Cryogenic Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, develop your skills, and contribute to the advancement of cryogenic technology.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical components for cryocooler products and tooling.
- Conduct experiments to validate and improve design modeling.
- Integrate new findings from literature work into existing projects.
- Document findings and results in a methodical and meticulous manner.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree course and returning to university to complete the degree after the placement.
- Required or requested to take an industrial placement year.
- Right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement.
- Able to commence employment in summer 2025.
- Strong grades in lab/project work and general theory/mathematics.
- Ability to communicate complex thoughts in spoken and written forms.
- Interest in applied research/design.
- Good team working capabilities, willingness to learn new skills, and open-mindedness.
