High-Energy Laser Scientist Industrial Placement Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Industrial Placement student in High-Energy Laser Science. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our world-leading team and contribute to cutting-edge research in laser technology.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct experiments and support world-renowned scientists in the development of high-energy lasers
- Develop techniques to improve DiPOLE lasers for improved performance and explore new applications
- Learn how to operate lasers, cryogenic systems, and high-vacuum systems in a clean room environment
- Develop computer modelling and system control skills to support research activities
- Run experiments, analyse data, and report findings to the team
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement
- Predicted grades corresponding to a 2:1 or higher
- Good problem-solving skills, time management skills, and ability to work independently
- Enthusiasm about lasers and effective communication skills
- Works well in a team and responsible approach to health and safety
