Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling chemotherapy appointments at the Kent Oncology Centre, ensuring patients receive timely appointments, making necessary changes, and following up on outstanding appointments throughout the day.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the scheduling of central venous access devices (CVAD) and other associated appointments to enable chemotherapy treatment delivery.
  • Supply relevant documentation for the new patient information clinic.
  • Monitor the chemotherapy action sheet and ensure completion in accordance with centre policy.
  • Be aware of all cancer targets relevant to the post.
  • Ensure data capture for chemotherapy trial patients is an intrinsic aspect of the appointment system.
  • Assist in the training of chemotherapy support workers.
Requirements

Good communication and IT skills are essential. The ability to work within a busy environment is necessary to fulfill this role. Previous experience in a clinical environment is an advantage, as is experience working with the Oncology Centre Management System and knowledge of chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy working practices.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Phased training program to be completed within 1 to 6 months
  • Working knowledge of the Kent Oncology Management System or equivalent

Desirable

  • GCSE level/NVQ level training program
  • Previous experience working with the general public
  • Clerical experience
