About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special school for secondary pupils with learning and additional needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of quality learning and teaching, working under the direction of a qualified teacher.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of quality learning and teaching to pupils with special educational needs
  • Work with children and young people who have a range of significant and often complex SEND, including autism, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, speech language and communication needs, and those who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Undertake specified work with individuals, groups, and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher
  • Encourage participation and independence in learning
  • Support pupils in developing and implementing their own personal and social development
  • Assist with personal care, hygiene, and dressing, while encouraging independence
  • Provide basic first aid and liaise with senior leaders and medical staff as needed
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection
